We have had a very interesting time learning about Florence Nightingale, not only about what a courageous, kind and formidable character she must have been, but also how things that she put in place at the army hospital in Scutari during the Crimean War still have a place in nursing today. Writing about her has actually improved our sentence making, and helped us understand both how questions can ‘hook’ our reader in, and also that describing words can really help the reader ‘image’ what we are trying to say.
We have had some brilliant practical experiences learning about our senses and our bodies in Science, and have even learned some letters in Braille.
We have also considered just how special we are, and who is special to us and why. We really are very important people!
