These girls have worked so incredibly hard but a massive thank you also has to go to Adrian Brown for running the Cross Country club and giving Lewannick opportunities like this.
Please look in the trophy cabinet tomorrow as this is something Lewannick are so proud of!
Well done girls and Mr Brown!
The children were very excited to have a PE lesson taught by the Cornish Pirates rugby team! They learnt the rules of the game, respect and how to pass a ball correctly. There were a number of different drills that the children had to do to learn different skills! It was great to see so many smiling but determined faces!!
Children from Year 4 and 5 went to Launceston College and took part in the Badminton festival. The festival was run by students from the College and they provided a great training session for the children of Lewannick. All of the children felt that their confidence has grown in Badminton and this is something that they might like to do as an after school club or even as part of PE!
A massive congratulations to everyone that took part in the Cross Country race at Great Trethew near Liskeard. Everybody performed amazingly and we were so proud of all the children that took part. We look forward to the next race!
Year 5 and 6 went to Launceston College to participate in a mulit skills festival that was run by the pupils of Launceston College. All the children came back to Lewannick so excited and had massive smiles on their faces! It was great to see so many smiling faces showing that they had a great sporting morning! It sounds like volleyball was the favourite!!
The children of Lewannick had a surprise visitor on Friday afternoon. As Mr Towe was doing assembly, Pilgrim Pete from Plymouth Argyle appeared!! The children were very excited!! Pete had his photo taken with the children and even played tennis with Hawks Class!
Our netball team travelled to Boyton yesterday for a netball festival. It was a huge success and Mrs Dinnis was so proud of the whole team. Their behaviour was exceptional and the children played brilliantly. The final score 7-3 to Lewannick. Well done to both teams.
We are very proud of 3 children in our school who competed in a swimming gala in Bodmin today. Toby, Amy and Evie were selected to swim in different races. Mr Towe went with them and commented on how brilliantly they swam as others schools had a full team. Overall we came 5th with 88 points. Well done Toby, Amy and Evie.
Today our football team played St Neot School. It was a great match and both of the teams showed some fantastic footballing skills. There was lots of good passing, headers and goals. Due to the fact that the weather was so glorious, the whole school came to cheer Lewannick on! In the end the score was 10-4 to Lewannick. Well done to both teams.
Our football team went to Tregadillet to participate in a football match. It was the first time that we had worn our new kit, so everybody was very excited! It was a very muddy game but that didn’t stop us! Both teams played exceptionally well, and Miss Bowden was so proud of our football team. They worked well as a team, passed to each other and had a great team spirit. In the end the score was 6 nil to Lewannick. Well done both teams.
We welcomed Tregadillet netball team to Lewannick. It was a really close match and both teams played brilliantly. It was a chance to play against another school and practice all the skills we have learnt in netball club. It was a great game with the final score being 6-5 to Lewannick.
KS1 enjoyed basketball with Danny from Plymouth Raiders. He taught us lots of new skills.
On Friday 10th February pupils from Lewannick School took part in the fourth fixture of the Primary Schools Cross Country League at Liskeard.
All of our runners did extremely well. This event was also the qualifier for the Team Trials for the XC Champs at Newquay and it was a fiercely competitive event.
We are delighted that both Freya (3rd place) and Evie (6th place) secured a qualifier place as Year 3/4 girls and will be competing in the Team Trials. Well done!
The Plymouth Raiders basketball team came in and talked to us about their career in basketball. We met 3 of the players and 1 of the management team! We asked them lots of really good questions. They made us laugh a lot and we are very excited to do basketball with them after half term! Look how tall they are compared to Woody and Harry!!

Have a look in the Cornish Times to see us in the newspaper!!!
Autumn Term- 71 children out of 111 have taken part in a sporting after school club!! 64% of the school!!
Look at all these children who got certificates at swimming! Lots of children got their 25metres certificate, some got their 10 metres and some got their 5 metres! Well done Hawks Class, you have dramatically improved over the last few weeks.
Look at our new kit!!!! A massive thank you to Kensey Foods who sponsored our new sports kit! We have now got a kit for both KS1 and Ks2. We cannot wait to get out and play in competitions and wear our new kit.
It was an exciting Thursday!! For Children In Need, the staff decided to have a play and play netball match. The Student Council organised who wanted to play, and drew the teams out of a hat. It was a great match but the green team did beat the red team 6-4. Thank you to our chair of governor Helen Ward for being a fantastic umpire! It was a great way to raise money for an important charity. The children absolutely loved cheering on their teachers and teaching assistants! Mr Towe our head teacher was a brilliant centre as he was against Bobby. Mr Harrison our music teacher also joined in, he played GS and his height really helped him!
On Monday, Yr 1 and Yr 2 went on a visit to St Neot Primary School. The children at Lewannick put on their jogging bottoms and trainers and were split into 4 groups. They were then joined with children in Yr 1 and Yr 2 from St Neot School. The children each participated in a sporting activity which rotated every 30 minutes. Every group got to participate in each different sport. The children played football, netball, hockey and parachute games. It was great to see the children working collaboratively with children of the same age from another school. The children’s confidence grew throughout the afternoon and they learnt new skills and techniques in a range of different sports! We look forward to welcoming St Neot to Lewannick School in the Spring Term.

What a day!! At 9.30am, 43 people gathered in Lewannick car park and boarded the bus to Wembley. There were lots of very excited children and adults ready to watch England play Malta at Wembley. After the long journey, we arrived at Wembley. As we approached Wembley, we could see the stadium out of the bus window! The songs started and the bus was full of singing songs such as ‘God Save The Queen’, and ‘Three Lions’. When we got off the bus, we walked up to the stadium and the closer we got the more fascinated the children became! We got to our seats and watched as England and Malta warmed up. The first half saw England score 2 goals!!! The second half did not have any goals, but it was full of excitement! It was a fantastic day and it was great to give the parents and children of Lewannick a chance to not only visit Wembley, but to watch our home country play and win!!!
