Hawks Class is an exciting and fun place to learn. We will learn through a wide range of engaging topics this year.
For the first part of the Autumn Term, our topic will be ‘Once Upon A Time’. We will look at a range of different fairy tales and will link them to different parts of the curriculum. For example, we will be looking at the story of Hansel and Gretel, and link this to Geography as we will be drawing the characters a map to show the way to the sweet house.
In Hawks we like to get out and experience the world around us. We will be using our amazing school grounds for our learning and we will go on trips to enhance the curriculum.
During storytelling we will learn to tell the whole story of the “The Magic Porridge Pot ” through actions and story maps.
Reading is a very important part of your child’s education. We ask that you hear your child read a few pages of their reading book every night. This will benefit not only their reading but greatly impacts on their language and writing as well.
PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday during the Autumn term and therefore we ask that your child has the correct kit in school every week. If your child has long hair, please ensure that it is tied up for PE.
Homework is chosen to reinforce what has been learned in the classroom during the week. Children will receive homework on a Friday and it is to be handed in the following Friday. The children will receive a piece Maths online homework, spellings and tables every Friday.
I will take much pleasure in teaching Hawks and seeing your child blossom and grow throughout the year. If at any point you have any concerns or would like to speak to me please do not hesitate to see me after school or make an appointment in the office.
