The children were very excited to have a PE lesson taught by the Cornish Pirates rugby team! They learnt the rules of the game, respect and how to pass a ball correctly. There were a number of different drills that the children had to do to learn different skills! It was great to see so many smiling but determined faces!!
Children from Year 4 and 5 went to Launceston College and took part in the Badminton festival. The festival was run by students from the College and they provided a great training session for the children of Lewannick. All of the children felt that their confidence has grown in Badminton and this is something that they might like to do as an after school club or even as part of PE!
A massive congratulations to everyone that took part in the Cross Country race at Great Trethew near Liskeard. Everybody performed amazingly and we were so proud of all the children that took part. We look forward to the next race!
Year 5 and 6 went to Launceston College to participate in a mulit skills festival that was run by the pupils of Launceston College. Our netball team travelled to Boyton yesterday for a netball festival. It was a huge success and Mrs Dinnis was so proud of the whole team. Their behaviour was exceptional and the children played brilliantly. The final score 7-3 to Lewannick. Well done to both teams.
We are very proud of 3 children in our school who competed in a swimming gala in Bodmin today. Toby, Amy and Evie were selected to swim in different races. Mr Towe went with them and commented on how brilliantly they swam as others schools had a full team. Overall we came 5th with 88 points. Well done Toby, Amy and Evie.
Today our football team played St Neot School. It was a great match and both of the teams showed some fantastic footballing skills. There was lots of good passing, headers and goals. Due to the fact that the weather was so glorious, the whole school came to cheer Lewannick on! In the end the score was 10-4 to Lewannick. Well done to both teams.
Our football team went to Tregadillet to participate in a football match. It was the first time that we had worn our new kit, so everybody was very excited! It was a very muddy game but that didn’t stop us! Both teams played exceptionally well, and Miss Bowden was so proud of our football team. They worked well as a team, passed to each other and had a great team spirit. In the end the score was 6 nil to Lewannick. Well done both teams.
We welcomed Tregadillet netball team to Lewannick. It was a really close match and both teams played brilliantly. It was a chance to play against another school and practice all the skills we have learnt in netball club. It was a great game with the final score being 6-5 to Lewannick.

All of our runners did extremely well. This event was also the qualifier for the Team Trials for the XC Champs at Newquay and it was a fiercely competitive event.
We are delighted that both Freya (3rd place) and Evie (6th place) secured a qualifier place as Year 3/4 girls and will be competing in the Team Trials. Well done!
The Plymouth Raiders basketball team came in and talked to us about their career in basketball. We met 3 of the players and 1 of the management team! We asked them lots of really good questions. It was an exciting Thursday!! For Children In Need, the staff decided to have a play and play netball match. The Student Council organised who wanted to play, and drew the teams out of a hat. It was a great match but the green team did beat the red team 6-4. Thank you to our chair of governor Helen Ward for being a fantastic umpire! It was a great way to raise money for an important charity. The children absolutely loved cheering on their teachers and teaching assistants! Mr Towe our head teacher was a brilliant centre as he was against Bobby. Mr Harrison our music teacher also joined in, he played GS and his height really helped him!
On Monday, Yr 1 and Yr 2 went on a visit to St Neot Primary School. The children at Lewannick put on their jogging bottoms and trainers and were split into 4 groups. What a day!! At 9.30am, 43 people gathered in Lewannick car park and boarded the bus to Wembley. There were lots of very excited children and adults ready to watch England play Malta at Wembley. After the long journey, we arrived at Wembley. As we approached Wembley, we could see the stadium out of the bus window! The songs started and the bus was full of singing songs such as ‘God Save The Queen’, and ‘Three Lions’. When we got off the bus, we walked up to the stadium and the closer we got the more fascinated the children became! We got to our seats and watched as England and Malta warmed up. The first half saw England score 2 goals!!! The second half did not have any goals, but it was full of excitement! It was a fantastic day and it was great to give the parents and children of Lewannick a chance to not only visit Wembley, but to watch our home country play and win!!!
